I am amazed at how everything here is done with simple manual labor.  In this photo you see a troupe of Chinese gentlemen chipping away an icy spot on the parking lot.  Back in the U.S. people would sprinkle salt or some other chemical compound to melt it.  Here they merely put their back into it.
